Tom Hendry Warehouse

4 STARS “fresh, youthful vibe”Winnipeg Free Press

Local playwright Frances Koncan’s award-winning comedy explores the cultural inheritance of three 19th century women as they navigate the rapidly changing world of the Canadian fur trade. Using 21st century slang, these women share their views on life, love and Louis Riel along with period heartthrobs like the dreamy Thomas Scott. Koncan mixes humour and history, shifting perspective on women’s power in the past and present.

Running time: Approx. 90 minutes (NO intermission)
Warnings: Strong language, gunshots, mature content, Louis Riel’s execution is discussed and symbolically depicted. A Smudge will take place inside the theatre 2 hours and 15 minutes prior to the first performance of each day.

Royal MTC is deeply concerned for the health and safety of our artists, audiences, staff and volunteers. Royal MTC has taken initial steps to expand and increase the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing in our buildings, made hand sanitizer more widely available backstage and in the lobbies, added signage about best practices in hand washing and cough etiquette, and offered audience members the opportunity to exchange their tickets for March performances if they are feeling unwell. Our contingency plans are in place and will be acted on as the situation evolves.

We continue to monitor and work closely with government agencies for guidance related to general access to public spaces. At this point, performances and events at Royal MTC are not cancelled, but should that change, we will be reaching out to audiences by email and phone, and providing updates on our website.
