When Tom Stoppard sets his sights on Shakespeare, he comes up with some peculiar lenses through which to look. His most recent stare at the Bard has been Shakespeare in Love, firstly as a successful film and, as we saw locally, a marvellous adaptation for the stage.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern was a successful play in the 70s which Stoppard later directed as a film. All we can do is give this gifted dramatist a reading of that earlier work. Here's Tom reading between the lines.
