Your Visit

Occasionally, there are several events taking place in the area so parking can take a bit of planning. The good news: there are a number of parkades, parking lots and City of Winnipeg street spaces within a quick walk to the John Hirsch and Tom Hendry theatres.

NEW: The Canada Games Sport for Life Centre just north of the Tom Hendry Warehouse has indoor parking (80+ spots) for the community to access. Click here for details.

Royal MTC doesn't own or operate any lots in the area but we're always working to improve the parking situation where possible. In the meantime, consider these Dos and Don'ts when planning your next trip to the theatre:

  1. Do give yourself time: Although there is parking available in the Exchange District, the choicest lots tend to fill up in the early evening, and historic one-way streets can prove frustrating when on the hunt for a spot.
  2. Do arrive early: For your convenience, the lobby is open an hour before showtime so arrive in comfort and enjoy a leisurely drink. There are also several world-class restaurants and coffee shops close by, and we're always happy to make a recommendation.
  3. Do bring your credit card: While many meters and lots still accept change, nearly all of them take credit cards.
  4. Don’t pay for street parking when you don't have to: City of Winnipeg meters are free between 5:30pm and 8:00am, M-F. Meters offer 2 hours of complimentary parking on Saturday and are free on Sundays. (These guidelines can change so please check meters and signage carefully.)
  5. Don’t come unprepared: Have a look at this parking map in advance and make a plan before you leave.
  6. Do call a cab – or ask us to! Royal MTC staff members are happy to order a taxi for you. Don’t hesitate to ask.
  7. Do remember your options: Depending on where you live, the bus may be a stress-free plan or consider carpooling if possible.
  8. Do bookmark Parkopedia: This handy website can help with your parking plans.

**Most local taxi agencies have an app you can download – ordering a cab is easier than ever!
**The Pay by Phone app is similarly effortless to use. See details below.

Did you know you can use your phone to pay at Impark lots? We recommend registering in advance for added convenience. Avoid line-ups in cold weather as you sit in your warm car and pay for parking with your cell phone. To register: For more info:
