TICKETS

 

WHAT IF I EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS?

If you haven't received your tickets via email or need assistance, please contact the Box Office at 204 942 6537, toll-free 1 877 446 4500 or boxoffice@royalmtc.ca.

If you're experiencing problems with your PDF ticket at the performance, one of our volunteer ushers or the House Manager will be able to assist you.
 


 

WHAT IF I CANNOT ATTEND A PERFORMANCE THAT I HAVE BOOKED?

Please call the Box Office to inquire about whether an exchange to another date is possible as some subscription packages have different exchange policies. Priority subscriptions include one free exchange (24 hours in advance) to another performance of the same play available by phone, email or in person.

Single tickets may be exchanged to another performance of the same play for a $10.00/per ticket exchange fee. We cannot guarantee that seats will be available, and it is highly likely that your seats will not be the same as your original booking and may incur an upgrade.

A $5.00 per ticket same day exchange fee is applicable to all tickets (subscription and single tickets) if the exchange is made on the same day as the original performance.

Exchanges cannot be made for already-missed performances and can only be made to a different performance date of the same show, not to a different show.

Promotional tickets are non-exchangeable.
 


 

CAN I CHANGE MY PERFORMANCE DATE AFTER BOOKING?

Please call the Box Office to inquire about whether an exchange to another date is possible as conditions do apply.
 


 

CAN I GET A REFUND FOR UNUSED TICKETS?

Tickets are non-refundable. Subscribers may request a tax receipt for the value of unused subscription tickets by calling the Box Office at 204 942 6537 at least 48 hours* prior to your scheduled performance.

*Canada Revenue Agency regulations state that Royal MTC must have the opportunity to re-sell the ticket, and that tax receipts CANNOT be issued for missed performances, unused portions of ”Choose Your Own” packages or additional casual tickets.
 


 

THEATRE ACCESS

Please enter the John Hirsch Mainstage via the Box Office or Rorie St. doors. The entrance marked STAGE DOOR (by the parking lot next to the building) is not being used.

Doors to the lobby open 1 hour before curtain at both theatres.

 



I HAVE A GROUP WHO'D LIKE TO ATTEND A SHOW. HOW DO I BOOK TICKETS?

I’M A TEACHER AND WOULD LIKE TO BOOK TICKETS FOR A STUDENT GROUP. HOW DO I DO THIS?

Tickets are $15 for middle/high school students with one free supervisor ticket for each 15 students, and $20 for post-secondary students. Book your school tickets here!

FOOD & DRINK

  • Drinks are allowed in the theatre but food is not. (Please be careful not to spill on your neighbours!)
  • Bar and concession services are available. Water is offered at the bar.


CAN I AVOID THE LINE-UP AT THE BAR DURING INTERMISSION?

Yes. Pre-order and pay at the bar before the performance and your drink(s) will be waiting for you at intermission.
 

 

DO YOU ACCEPT CASH?

We prefer to limit cash transactions wherever possible. You may use tap for credit card transactions. We have an ATM in our Mainstage lobby.


HEALTH & SAFETY

Royal MTC is mask-friendly and we have masks available for patrons who wish to wear one.


before you head to the theatre

Please check the status of your performance before heading to the theatre. We take measures to ensure the health and safety of our artists, but show cancellations are possible. Please ensure that we have current contact information for you. As soon as we know a show needs to be cancelled, we'll contact you with updates and ticketing options. At minimum, we'll reach out via email and automated phone call, and we'll update our website.
 



The role of the audience

 

We are happy to welcome you to the theatre. Every staff person, actor and crew member plays a part in your experience, and you contribute to the experience of the performers onstage and those around you.

Latecomers: Please make sure you give yourself enough time to find your seat before the performance starts. Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the House Manager. 

Cell phones and other electronic devices: All mobile and electronic devices, such as phones and smart watches, must be turned off (even the vibrations can be heard). Texting and surfing during performances is very distracting for the performers and other audience members. Using cameras and recording devices during a performance is not permitted.

Dress code: There is no dress code at the Royal MTC. The attire of patrons can range from formal, business to casual, and we encourage all to dress comfortably.

Scents & allergies: Please consider the comfort of others and refrain from the use of scented products. Your thoughtfulness is appreciated.

Talking during the performance: Even when you whisper, you can be heard by performers and people around you. Please wait until after the performance to share your thoughts with others.

Food/drinks: Food and outside drinks are not allowed in the theatre. When there is an intermission, snacks and drinks may be available for purchase. There is complimentary water in the lobby.

Leaving during the performance: If you leave the theatre during a performance, you will be readmitted at the discretion of the House Manager. If readmitted, you may be placed in an empty seat at the back of the auditorium instead of your original seat.

Warnings: On occasion, Royal MTC’s productions may contain theatrical fog or haze, special effects and language/content warnings. For more information, please refer to the show pages.

Enjoy the show: Laugh, cry, gasp – responding to the performance is part of the nature of theatre! As you get involved in the story, try to balance your reactions with respecting the people around you. The curtain call is part of the performance too – it gives you a chance to thank the artists for their hard work with applause, and for them to thank you for your attention. We all appreciate when you stay at your seat and join the applause!

I’VE NEVER BEEN ON YOUR WEBSITE. HOW DO I BUY TICKETS OR MAKE A DONATION?

To purchase subscriptions, single tickets or make a donation, you'll need to register for an online account. To set up an account, visit royalmtc.ca/login.

If you've previously registered for an account but have forgotten your login or password, you can have it sent to you at the email address you provided or you can call the Box Office for assistance.
 


 

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH MY INFORMATION WHEN I SET UP AN ONLINE ACCOUNT?

The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre does not lend, rent or sell its patron list to any organization or individual. Royal MTC collects, uses, retains and discloses some personal information in order to complete and establish and serve you as a customer and to enhance the theatre-going experience as much as possible. Royal MTC does occasionally contract third-party agencies to prepare mailings and conduct research on its behalf. A privacy protection clause is included in all contracts with such third parties to guarantee the same level of protection. For more information, read our privacy policy.
 



WHERE CAN I PARK?

Metered parking is available throughout the surrounding area of our theatres. There are also several parkades within walking distance. View a map of parking facilities in the area.

Please note: We do our best to lobby the city about street rates and restrictions but unfortunately the parking situation is largely out of our control. We don’t own a parking lot and privately owned lots set their own prices.
 


 

WHAT IF I ARRIVE AFTER THE PERFORMANCE HAS STARTED?

Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the House Manager.
 



CAN I BRING CHILDREN?

We welcome guests of all ages, but acknowledge very young children can be disruptive to the performance and to other patrons. Children should be able to sit quietly throughout the performance. Children who are unable to do so, along with their accompanying adult, will be asked to leave the auditorium or may be asked not to attend the performance.

Unless the programming is specific to family audiences, please use discretion in choosing to bring a child to a performance. If you're unsure about the suitability of a show, feel free to call our Box Office for guidance. Every patron, regardless of age, requires a ticket. Babes in arms are not permitted in the theatre; children 5 and under are not permitted in the balcony.
 



CAN I BOOK A TAXI TO PICK ME UP WHEN THE SHOW ENDS?

Taxi reservations may be made upon your arrival at the theatre. Please leave your name with the House Manager, who will be happy to contact the cab company of your choice.

ACCESSIBILITY

DO YOU HAVE WHEELCHAIR SEATING?

The John Hirsch and Tom Hendry theatres are fully accessible to patrons who use wheelchairs. Please notify staff of your needs at the Box Office when ordering your tickets. Sorry, wheelchair accessible seats are not available online for this season.
 



DO YOU OFFER HEARING-ASSISTANCE DEVICES?

Headsets are available free of charge to Royal MTC patrons on a first-come, first-served basis. Limited number available; please see the House Manager or a volunteer usher when arriving at the theatre. 
 



DO YOU HAVE GENDER-INCLUSIVE WASHROOMS?

Yes, we do. Gender-inclusive washrooms are located on the main floor in the northwest corner of the John Hirsch Mainstage lobby, and to the right as you enter the lobby at the Tom Hendry Warehouse. All are welcome.
