ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

In Anishinaabemowin, the word Pimootayowin means “journey.” Since 2021, this festival has welcomed community members to engage in new and exciting pieces from local Indigenous voices.

Several works that were developed at Pimootayowin: Festival of New Work found life on other stages, notably Rosanna Deerchild's The Secret to Good Tea, which was presented on the MTC Mainstage and at the National Arts Centre, David McLeod's ELEVATE: Manaaji'idiwin (Mainstage, 24/25 season) and Rhonda Apetagon's ghost story In the Shadow Beyond the Pines (Warehouse, 25/26 season).
