Scholarship Program

Applications will be open between February 11 and April 7 2025. Interviews/auditions will take place in early May.

Jean Murray–Moray Sinclair Theatre Scholarships are for full-time students attending accredited theatre schools or university theatre programs who intend to pursue a career in theatre.

To apply, you must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant, and a resident of Manitoba (or former resident, for a significant period of your life). Your application should include the completed form, a letter of reference, a resume or CV, a written statement, documentation of the school you're attending/applying for, and portfolio/supporting material for some disciplines. Full details and a checklist for the application are in the downloadable files below.

If you currently hold a Jean Murray-Moray Sinclair scholarship, you do not have to reapply, but you will have to submit a self-taped monologue or portfolio. Renewal surveys will be sent to eligible students.  Please check your inbox and junk mail! If you have questions, contact Ksenia.

Moving forward, all current scholarship recipients will be able to receive yearly support for the length of their program, up to four (4) years, as long as you still meet the eligibility requirements. Recipients will fill out a short survey each year to check in and submit a self-tape or portfolio and their latest proof of registration.

No longer in school? Check out our Apprentice & Assistant Programs for professional development.

Support Students and Double your Impact!

Scholarships are supported by generous patrons through a ‘pass the hat’ at one Mainstage production. This season we will be doing so during the production of Waitress. You can also donate online anytime this season! Every dollar collected goes directly to students to support their theatre training. This year, thanks to the Zita and Mark Bernstein Family Foundation, donations made online will be matched up to a total of $10,000! Please consider making a donation to help nurture the talent of tomorrow.
