Discover how artists and craftspeople create the worlds you see onstage. Attend engaging workshops led by theatre professionals and see Mainstage productions for free! No experience is necessary, just a love of theatre, curiosity, and willingness to learn and have fun! This season, we'll hold 6 sessions on Wednesdays. Arrive at 9:45 am for a workshop tailored to our current Mainstage production led by a member of Manitoba’s professional theatre community. Past topics have included stage management, design, choreography, auditioning, playwriting, scenic art, prop-making, character creation, voice, and more! Lunch is provided. After lunch, students attend the matinee performance and a post-show Talkback to ask the actors questions. The end of day will depend on how long the show is, but most sessions would finish at approximately 4:45 pm or earlier. Once show running times have been confirmed, participants and families will be updated. Backstage Pass meets during the school day, and participants need permission from both their school and caregivers to attend. You are responsible for getting permission to miss classes and other activities. Students are expected to come to all of the Backstage Pass sessions unless they are sick. 2023/24 schedule: 6 Daytime Wednesdays. Workshops to be announced.
