Backstage pass

Our popular theatre exploration series for grade 11 and 12 students! Discover how artists and craftspeople create the worlds you see onstage. This engaging series of workshops takes you behind-the-scenes and lets you see Mainstage productions for free. No experience is necessary – just curiosity, and a willingness to learn and have fun!
Backstage Pass occurs during the school day and participants will require permission from both their school and parents/guardians to attend. Participants are asked to commit to the whole series of 6 Wednesdays.

Backstage Pass 23/24 dates: Wednesdays November 1, December 13, January 17, February 28, April 3, May 8.

The application deadline for the 2023 Fringe has passed; next year's applications will be posted in May 2024.
The Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival, presented each July by Royal MTC, strives to break down traditional boundaries between audiences and artists, encouraging open dialogue between theatre-goers and theatre-creators. If you are aged 16-23 and love the Fringe - or if you've never been and want to see what it's all about - then NextGen Fringers is the program for you!  NextGen Fringers get free tickets to Fringe plays, connect with other young theatregoers, and share their experiences to spread the word about one of our favourite ways to spend the summer. More details about NextGen Fringers here!

Discounted Tickets

Youth under 18 who attend performances casually can select a discounted ticket price when booking their seats. Anyone aged 18-29 is eligible for our Theatre Under 30 program to access $20 tickets for selected performances throughout the season. Find out more about Theatre Under 30 here
