Dreaming of Him

By Kirby Fults

Friday, September 26 at 7pm

Still recovering from a difficult divorce, Eve and her kids, Numb, Beej and Babes, are trying to build something new. While Eve and her sisters navigate a family history of enfranchisement and internalized racism, Numb guards the family secrets and lies. Beej and Babes grow up unaware of these fallacies but Numb begins to connect the hidden truths. They all must journey through the impact of colonization, mental health, abuse and illness as these truths come to light. Death brings the family and Numb back together where he faces the critical choice between his personal healing or staying silent. Can Numb share these discoveries without destroying himself and his family? Can they navigate through the multi-generational pain that has torn them from their roots? Many of his hopes and dreams depend on it.

During a night of coffee, card playing and laughter, Rosie and her sister Culloo tell Rosie's daughter Alice a story of a stranger coming to Batoche in the years after the Riel Rebellion. There, he meets Jean, a veteran of the rebellion and a farmer. As Jean grapples with poverty and traumatic memories while raising his daughter Marguerite, the stranger offers Jean a way out – but at an immeasurable cost. The Creatives

By Martha Troian

Monday, September 22 at 7pm

Gazheek is new to the market world. She’s nervous, feels in over her head, and has been waiting years for this chance to set up as a vendor. Can she turn her dream of being a full-time artist into reality? The Creatives is a workplace comedy that follows Indigenous artists hustling at pop-up markets, conference trade shows and pow-wows. However, it's not just about creating moosehide-tufted earrings; it's about the individuals who do. Through social satire and vibrant personalities, this full-length play delves into the aspirations, ambitions and petty jealousies that accompany the art-making world. Think Golden Girls, Big Little Lies and a touch of Superstore, but 100% Indigenous.
