SCHOLARSHIPS & APPRENTICESHIPS

Royal MTC assists emerging Manitoban artists with their education by offering scholarships and apprenticeships.

JEAN MURRAY-MORAY SINCLAIR THEATRE SCHOLARSHIPS & APPRENTICESHIPS

In recognition and celebration of two Winnipeg personalities who contributed to our theatre’s development, Royal MTC established the Jean Murray–Moray Sinclair Theatre Scholarship almost 50 years ago. Since its creation, the fund has financially assisted more than 517 Manitobans aspiring to a career in professional theatre with over 908 scholarships and apprenticeships. The fund is sustained by our patrons, who generously respond each season as we “pass the prop” during the run of one John Hirsch Theatre production.

  • Scholarships – Awards funding to full-time students attending accredited theatre schools or university theatre programs, who intend to pursue a career in theatre.
  • Apprenticeships – Awards work-experience positions to emerging professional artists who have completed accredited post-secondary training within the past two academic years and are looking for opportunities to gain experience in professional theatre.

The 20/21 Jean Murray - Moray Sinclair Scholarship & Apprenticeship application deadline has now passed. Thank you to all the artists who applied!

Note: Artists with three or more years of demonstrated professional experience are eligible for Royal MTC's Design & Director Assistant Program.

For more information on Royal MTC's scholarships and apprenticeships, please contact education@royalmtc.ca.

The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre is committed to equity and inclusion. We encourage submissions from diverse artists who self-identify as members of under-represented communities.
