A new, free workshop series for adults. Pathways aims to help you build the tools needed to enter a production in the lottery draw for the 2026 Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival. Applications are open until December 19!
Who: Adults who wish to progress towards the goal of entering a show in the 2026 Winnipeg Fringe lottery draw. What: A series of 10 free workshop sessions where up to 15 participants investigate different skills for creating and producing a show at the Winnipeg Fringe. Workshops will include explorations of playwriting, collaborative creation, design, working with technicians, grant writing, and more - and of course, seeing shows at Fringe 2025! When: Sessions once a month from January - November 2025 at approximately 1:00-3:00 pm; topics and speakers TBC. Participants are expected to make every effort to attend all sessions: Sun January 19, Sat February 8, Sat March 15, Sat April 26, Sat May 24, Sat June 21; Fringe runs July 16-27; we will take a break in August, Sat September 13, Sat October 4, Sat November 8. The 2026 Winnipeg Fringe company entry deadline will be in November 2025 with lottery draw in early December. Where: Regular sessions at Manitoba Theatre Centre, 174 Market Ave in Winnipeg. In July, the Fringe Festival takes place at venues throughout the city including the Exchange District, downtown, the Forks, and St. Boniface, though most action is centred around Old Market Square in the Exchange District. Why: To nurture Winnipeg theatre creatives, build connections within a cohort, and encourage participation of new local voices in the festival! How: Fill out this online application by December 19, 2024. This should not take long, but there are some answers that require several sentences; you may wish to type these in a word processing document first and paste them into the text boxes. The application deadline is December 19th, 2024. Applicants can expect a response by December 30th.
